How to Share an Article on Ampl:

 

Ampl is a community of people who love to share articles and discover trusted content from the most interesting and reputable sources in the world. The following FAQ will guide you through every feature and best practice to help you maximize your experience.

 

 

How NOT to Share Content on Ampl:

 

Ampl is not a place to consume or curate adult or illegal content. Accounts that persistently showcase inappropriate content will be closed and may face further disciplinary action.

 

 

Gestures

 

Swipe left or right on any article from any feed, to view the gestures

 

 

How do I block a publisher? 

 

Swipe right on any article from feed, select the far right option of ‘Block Publisher’ and you will no longer see any content from this publisher. You can manage all ‘Blocked Publishers’ in the feed management section located at the icon in the upper right hand corner of the feed screen.

 

 

How can I report content?

 

Swipe right on any article from feed, select the second option ‘Report’ and choose one of the 4 options for why you’d like to report this content (“Fake News”, “Disagree with Opinions” “Inappropriate” and “Too Negative”)

 

 

What does the ‘dislike’ feature do?

 

Swiping right and selecting “dislike” signals to the network that you don’t like the content and we’ll begin to show you less content like that.

 

 

What does the ‘like’ feature do?

 

Swiping left and selecting “like” signals to the network that you enjoy this piece of content and we’ll continue to improve your content feed based on your interests.

 

 

Discover Feed

 

What is the purpose of the ‘Discover’ feed?

 

The ‘Discover’ Feed is a convenient way to see what’s happening in the world at any given moment. Our algorithms monitor the open web to analyze what’s trending across all categories and displays the most recent Trending News content from all Publications in our database.

 

 

Publishers Feed

 

Publishers feed will aggregate content from only the publisher’s that you decide to follow.

 

What is the purpose of the ‘Publishers’ feed?

 

The ‘Publishers’ feed is a focused content feed of the publishers you love and trust. This feed allow you to follow all your favorite publishers to curate a feed of content you enjoy, organized by your preference. Allowing you to check all your favorite publishers in one centralized experience and easily select one publisher to see their most recent content in reverse chronological order from newest to oldest.

 

 

How does the ‘Publishers’ feed work?

 

Publishers feed is a compilation of all the Publications you choose to ‘follow’ in the Feed Management section, further allowing you to personalize the order in which they appear in your top bar to help you see your favorite content quickly and easily.

 

 

Can I control the order of my Publishers’ feed?

 

All users have the ability control the order of your Publishers by going to the ‘Following’ section in feed management and holding down on a publisher icon 2 seconds and dragging it to a preferred order. Similar to moving apps around on your device home screen.

 

 

How do I view the content of only one publisher?

 

You can see content displayed from only one publisher by tapping on the desired publisher icon in the top bar of your Publisher Feed or at the top of an article. Once you have selected a specific Publisher, you’ll notice that Publisher’s Sub-Topics are available for you to select and further refine your browsing experience.

 

 

How do I view the content of only one Topic for that publisher?

 

You can see content displayed from only one topic by tapping on the desired topic icon located in the top bar of your Topics Feed.

 

 

How can I add publishers to the ‘publishers’ feed?

 

Navigate to the icon at the top right corner of the feed screen to visit Feed Management, from here tap on the publisher tab, then the ‘All’ tab and select from our list of over 300 publishers. Once a publisher selected they will appear in the tab labeled ‘Following’.

 

 

Topics Feed

 

Topics feed will aggregate content from only the topics you select

 

What is the purpose of the ‘Topics’ feed?

 

The ‘Topics’ feed is a focused feed of content by the categories you find most interesting. This feed allow you to follow your favorite topics to curate a feed of content you enjoy from all publishers in our database. Allowing you to check all your favorite topics in one centralized experience and easily select one topic to see the most recent content posted related to the respective topic.

 

 

How does the Topics feed work?

 

Topics feed is a compilation of all the topics you choose to ‘follow’ in the Feed Management section, allowing you to personalize the order in which they appear in your top bar to help you consume your favorite content as quickly and easily as possible.

 

 

Can I control the order of my ‘Topic’s’ feed?

 

All users have the ability control the order of your topics feed as they appear in the top bar by going to the ‘Your’ Topics section in feed management and holding down on a topic icon 2 seconds and dragging it to your preferred order. Similar to moving apps around on your device home screen.

 

 

How do I view the content of only one Topic?

 

You can see content displayed from only one topic by tapping on the desired topic icon located in the top bar of your Topics Feed.

 

 

How can I add Topics to the Topics feed?

 

Navigate to the icon at the top right corner of the feed screen to see Feed Management, from here tap on the Topics tab, then the ‘All’ tab and select Topics you’d like to add to your feed. Once selected they will appear in the tab labeled ‘Following’.

 

 

Feed Management - Publishers

 

This is where you follow and organize your trusted Publishers

 

Publishers (Following): This is a list of all the publishers you’ve added to your publisher feed. You can easily hold & drag them into your preferred order in the feed.

 

Publishers (All): is a full list of Publishers in our database you can follow to populate your Publisher feed. Easily select / deselect to Follow/Unfollow Publishers.

 

Publishers (Blocked): This is where all the publishers you’ve ‘blocked’ appear. You can easily ‘unblock’ publishers by selecting the publisher from this section, and hitting the blue “unblock” button on the top right.

 

 

Feed Management - Topics

 

This is where you control and select  the Topics you are interested in

 

Topics ((Following): This is a list of all the Topics you’ve added to your Topics feed. You can easily hold & drag them into your preferred order in the feed.

 

Topics (All): is a full list of Topics in our network that you can follow to populate your Topics feed. Easily select / deselect to Follow/Unfollow Topics.

 

 

Article Read

 

When you open any article to read

 

Like: Signals to the network that you like this piece of content, and we’ll improve our system to deliver content you should enjoy.

 

Dislike: Signals to the network that you don’t like this piece of content, and we’ll improve our system to deliver less content of this kind.

 

SaveEasily store and organize articles as desired. The saved section is located on the bottom toolbar of the home screen.

 

Send: Quickly share this article with anyone in your contacts list in only two taps. Attach a personal message and create one or many discussions within the article.

 

Annotate: Hold down and select to highlight a portion of text, attach a note and send to anyone on your contacts list. The highlighted text will appear in the messenger and will link directly back to the specific highlighted text located in the article.

 

Publisher Logo @ the top: This is the publication that generated this specific piece of content. You can easily navigate to the respective publisher’s feed of new content by selecting their icon at the top of the article.

 

Back arrow:  Quickly navigate back to the previous screen

 

Related Stories: Related stories is the quickest way to see all related coverage for the story you’re reading. Providing an opportunity to gain a well rounded perspective on any story by easily finding and reading all Publications that are covering the same story.

 

 

Send Screen

 

After finding an article that you’d like to share, tap the ‘Send’ icon in the bottom right hand corner of every article or highlight a portion of text. You’ll be brought to a ‘send screen’ where you can add a note and send the article to one or more individuals, and/or create a group chat.

 

Add comments:  Attach a note to the article you’re sharing to help drive a focused conversation with the recipients.

 

Send article to one friend: Tap the name of the person you’d like to share this article with then tap ‘Send’

 

Send the same article to multiple friends, separately: Tap on the names of the people you’d like to share this article with, creating separate conversations with each person.

 

Send articles to a group: Select the ‘Groups’ tab and tap on your desired group to share the article with the group

 

Send article to a friend who doesn’t have Ampl: Tap the ‘Add Contacts’ icon to the right of the person you’d like to share the article with then tap “Send & Invite”. They will receive a text message with link to download ampl, and your article/message will be waiting for them in their “ inbox” once they download the app.

Create a new group: Navigate to the groups section and tap ‘Create New’, from here select people from your contacts list that you’d like to add to a group. This group will be stored under your ‘Groups’ section and can easily share new articles with the group in one tap.

 

 

Chats

 

If you send or receive an article, this is where it lives

 

Articles: Tapping on this tab shows you all shared articles in your inbox.

 

Chats: Tap on this tab and search for any specific message that has been sent.

 

People:  Tap on this tab to see a list of all the people you’ve shared articles with and how many new articles are associated with each contact.

 

Groups: Tap to see all groups that you are in and how many shared articles are associated with each group.

 

Down Arrow (Bottom Right Hand Side Of Each Article): shows you a preview of the people and messages associated with the article.

 

 

Message Preview Gestures: Swipe right on any message preview in the dropdown section under an article to mark the article as “Un-Read. Swipe left to “mute” the chat or delete the message thread with that respective person.

 

 

Chats Gestures: Swipe on an article: while in the ‘Chats’ section swipe left to delete the article and all associated chats, or mark as ‘Read/Un-Read’. 

 

Note* If you delete the article, it will delete on your end, and not for anyone else who has sent/received the article.

 

 

Chat Requests: All articles/messages sent from individuals that are not in your contact list will be in que here to be reviewed for your approval or declined.

 

 

Saved

 

 

This is where all your saved articles live and the default folder is ‘Favorites’

 

Saved Folders: Easily create folders to organize saved articles. You can create a folder when saving an article on Article Read, or in the Saved section by pressing the ‘folder’ in the top left.

 

 

Unsave: To ‘unsave’ an article, visit the article, and ‘deselect’ the ‘save’ button. You can unsave multiple articles at once by pressing the “select” button in the top right of the “Saved” screen > selecting which articles you’d like to ‘unsave’ then pressing ‘Un-Save’

 

 

Select: Tap the select icon at the top right hand corner of the Saved section to select multiple articles and either move them into a specific folder or ‘Un-Save’ the articles.

 

 

Save Gestures: Swipe right on any article while in the ‘saved’ section to view block publisher, report article, or mark the article as “Un-Read)

History

 

This is the history of all articles you’ve read.

 

Clear History: if you’d like to ‘clear’ your history, press the ‘clear’ button in the top right of the history screen.

 

History Gestures: Swipe left on any article in the ‘History’ section to ‘Block Publisher’ Or ‘Report’ the article. Swipe right to delete this article from the history section or Send the article to a contact.

 

Profile

 

User profile is your public facing profile, which includes a short bio, username and interests. This is completely customizable and will be viewable by anyone who searches for you on Ampl.

 

Edit Profile: Select the ‘edit’ icon located in the top right of your profile.

 

Change Profile image: Select the ‘pencil’ icon located on the circular profile image to take a new photo or select from photos on your device. 

 

Edit Profile Background image: Select the ‘pencil’ icon located on the background image to take a new photo or select  from photos on your device. 

 

Create Username: Type in your desired username

 

Settings: Tap the gear icon at the top left hand side of your profile to view all application settings. From here, you’re able to customize your notifications, view Ampl’s Privacy Policy & Terms of Service, and submit user feedback.

*Add the terms of use, privacy, and help that will be accessed from the setting screen

 

How do I sign out?

 

From the settings menu, at the bottom of the screen you will see a “sign out” option.
